What does Module 1 (PA Foundation) do?

Module 1 builds the shared framework (categories, definitions, and structure) that every later module reads from.

Module 1.0: PA Foundation defines the governing Psycho-Aesthetic framework, numbering logic, and data schema used across all downstream modules.

Why it runs first

Module 1 sets the structural baseline that every other module references, so it always runs first. It's also the module every free trial runs (verified students' trials run Modules 1 and 2). You start it from the Clarify step of Project Setup with Run my free trial, or as the first module of your full run after you buy a package.

What it produces

A consolidated PA Research & Design Framework for the project, covering Project Charter & Success Criteria, Brief Set (Design / Research / Experiment), Problem Statement & Opportunity Hypothesis, Stakeholder Map & RACI, Assumptions / Risks / Dependencies, Measurement Plan & KPIs, Governance / Versioning / Documentation Plan, and downstream Research, Synthesis, Key Attractors, Hero's Journey, and Design content.

You see Module 1's findings in your reports on the Reports tab. On a free trial, that's your sample Insight Report.

Sub-modules

  • 1.1 Information Gathering: Project Charter & Success Criteria, Brief Set, Problem Statement, Stakeholder Map & RACI, Assumptions / Risks / Dependencies, Measurement Plan & KPIs, Governance / Versioning / Documentation Plan

  • 1.2 Research: Existing Briefs & Prior Studies; Consumer Research (Ethnography, Contextual Inquiry / User Observation)

  • 1.3 Synthesis

  • 1.4 Key Attractors

  • 1.5 Hero's Journey

  • 1.6 Design

How long it takes

About 2 minutes on the free trial. While it runs, the Modules tab shows Module 1 as Running with a progress bar and time estimate. You can close the tab; it keeps running. When it finishes, a sample of your Insight Report opens on the Reports tab.
